The Andromeda shift

Andromeda changed Meta. Creative diversity wins

Meta rebuilt how ads are found and matched to people. Targeting settings matter less than ever, and what you put in the creative matters more than it ever has. Here’s what changed, and what it means for the ads you run.

Before Andromeda

You picked the audience, then made the ad

Interests, lookalikes and age brackets did the targeting. Creative only had to look good once the audience was set, and one or two hero ads could carry an account for months.

Now

The ad picks the audience

Meta’s retrieval engine scans a far bigger pool of ads and hands each one to the person most likely to act on it, based on what they engage with. Your creative is the targeting now, and the accounts that win feed it more variety than ever.

Signals are the new targeting

Every static tells Meta who it’s for. A problem-and-solution ad finds the person with that problem. A comparison finds the person weighing their options. The angle in the creative now does more targeting than the settings in the ad set.

Diversity beats polish

Andromeda matches, it doesn’t rank your prettiest ad first. Ten versions of one concept give it one signal to work with. Ten different angles give it ten different people to find. More concepts beat more polish.

Volume is the input

A wider pool of live creative means more matches and slower fatigue. Budget is no longer the cap on scale. Creative supply is. A handful of new ads a quarter starves the system, and a fresh batch every month feeds it.

Statics are how you feed it

A static is fast and cheap to make, so you can ship real variety every month instead of waiting on the next shoot. Video brings the story to life. Static drives the decision, and it does it at the volume Andromeda rewards.

Clear beats clever

People read faster than a video can speak. A static lands your hook, your proof and your offer in the first second of the scroll, on one frame. Every creative we make backs your marketing message with words a customer gets instantly.

The Pulp Creative Engine

Our 4 step approach
to ads that perform

This is how last month’s performance data becomes this month’s batch of statics. Four steps, every month, in the same order, run by the team that buys your media.

  1. Discovery

Angles found in your account, your customers and the gaps between them.

    • Audit of your ad account: what’s winning, fatiguing and missing
    • Customer research into reviews, objections and why people actually buy
    • Concept bank built across the ten angle territories
  2. Concepts

Every static gets one clear argument before anyone opens a design file.

    • Monthly brief of the angles to test, signed off by you before design starts
    • Headline, primary text and description written for every concept
    • One clear message per static: a hook, a proof point and an offer
  3. Design

On-brand statics built to test, delivered ready to run.

    • Statics designed on brand and built to test, one round of revisions included
    • Ad-ready files, sized and named for upload
    • Loaded straight into your ad account, around seven days from brief to live
  4. Implement

The batch goes live, the results come back and the next brief follows.

    • Our media buyers read the performance of every static each month
    • Winners get budget, losers get cut, and both tell us something
    • The next batch is briefed off what won, and the loop starts again

The angle framework

Our winning angles
and frameworks

It starts with knowing your personas inside out, then matching each one with the angles that meet them at every stage of awareness.

Cubby problem-and-solution static answering three parent concerns with the kids’ pants range

Problem & Solution

Name the friction first, then show the fix. Still the most reliable angle for converting a cold audience.

99th Monkey us-vs-them static weighing 30g of protein against cottage cheese, eggs and a protein bar

Us vs Them

Your product against the obvious alternative, scored on the one measure that decides it.

MedAlert feature callout static labelling GPS tracking, two-way calls, fall detection and geofencing on the device

Feature Callouts

One product, its strongest features called out on the image itself, so the whole case is made in a glance.

Ekodeck social proof static built on a five-star customer review of a replaced front verandah

Social Proof

A real customer’s words, styled like the review it is. Borrowed trust from someone who isn’t you.

Kooee! offer static, up to 20% off the beef jerky range and ending tonight

Offer & Urgency

The deal made unmissable, with a deadline that gives people a reason to buy now rather than next month.

Golden Brown brand story static, hand-lettered and offering 10% off a first order

Brand Story

Why the brand exists, in its own voice. Earns attention from people who have never heard of you.

Typo range static showing the Alpha Mugs line-up with a buy-one-get-one-50%-off offer

Range & Choice

The whole line-up in one frame, so the decision becomes which one, not whether.

99th Monkey Venn diagram static placing the almond butter between nutrient value and natural protein

The Venn Diagram

Two things your customer wants, and your product sitting in the overlap. The simplest way to show a sweet spot.

QuiteLike checklist static crossing dinner off a weekly to-do list

The Checklist

A job crossed off in one frame. Positions the product as the thing that ends the task.

Typo seasonal static telling Christmas shoppers to beat Santa to his sleigh

Seasonal Moment

The calendar does the selling. Tie the product to the moment people are already shopping for.

Frequently asked questions

What do we need to send you?
Whatever photography you already have. That’s enough to start. A lot of our angles are type-led or graphic-led, like comparisons, offers and problem-solution ads, so they don’t need a new shoot. If a concept needs an image you don’t have, we’ll flag it before we design it. We also need one person on your side to approve each batch.
What comes in each batch?
Static ads, sized and named for upload. Each one comes with a headline, primary text and description written for that concept. This service is statics only, so video isn’t included. You own everything we make, including the working files. If we stop working together, you keep it all.
How long do these take to create, and how many revisions do we get?
Around seven days from brief to live, and we can move faster when you need it. You sign off the brief first. Our designer builds the statics and we make any internal tweaks before you see them. Then they come back to you for approval, with one round of revisions included. Once you’re happy, we load them straight into your ad account. Brief, design and launch all run through one team, so it’s the fastest way to get new creative live.
How does this fit with Paid Advertising?
Ad Creatives is built to sit alongside our Paid Advertising service. The same team that buys your media briefs the statics, so every batch is shaped by what’s actually happening in your account. When the buyers see an angle winning or a creative fatiguing, the next batch responds to it. No handover, no guesswork.
What if some of the statics don’t perform?
Some won’t. That’s expected. Each batch tests different angles to find out which ones your customers respond to. Our media buyers review the results every month and we build the next batch around the winners. A static that flops still tells us something. We won’t resend the same idea in a new colour and call it testing.
