Pinterest Ads

Pinterest ads that turn your audience into sales

Millions of Australians use Pinterest to plan what they’ll buy next, often weeks before they search anywhere else. Most brands only show up once that decision is made. We’re a specialist Melbourne Pinterest ads agency that gets your products onto the board early, then turns saves into sales.

What Pinterest rewards

Pinterest isn’t social media. It’s where purchases get planned

Nobody opens Pinterest to see what their friends are doing. They open it to plan something: a renovation, a wardrobe, a wedding, a Christmas table. Here’s how the platform actually works and what that means for your ads.

Social feeds

The ad interrupts the scroll

On a social feed your ad arrives uninvited, wedged between friends, news and entertainment. It has a second or two to earn attention from someone who wasn’t looking for anything, and then it’s gone.

Pinterest

The ad answers a plan

People arrive with a project in mind and search for ideas to fill it. A Pin that fits the board isn’t an interruption, it’s an answer. And once it’s saved, it keeps resurfacing for as long as the plan is alive, long after a feed ad would have scrolled away.

People come to plan, not to scroll

Almost every top search on Pinterest is unbranded: people type “kitchen pendant lights” or “spring wedding guest outfit”, not a brand name. They’re deciding what to buy and who to buy it from at the same time, and the brand that shows up in that search is the one that gets considered.

It’s a search engine, with pictures

Pins are found by what someone is searching, saving and looking at, not who they follow. Keywords, interests and your product feed do the targeting, and Pinterest now sells placements at the top of search results and inside visual search too. Being findable is the whole game.

A Pin keeps working long after it’s saved

A feed ad is gone the moment it’s scrolled past. A Pin gets saved to a board, resurfaces in search and related Pins, and when someone saves your ad it lives on as a normal Pin on their board. The work compounds instead of expiring with the budget.

Your catalogue is the campaign

Shopping ads are built from your product feed: live price, stock and the right image served to the person looking for exactly that. Since Performance+ arrived the buying is automated around it, so a clean, well-grouped catalogue does more for results than any targeting setting.

It isn’t just recipes and weddings

Gen Z is now the largest and fastest-growing group on Pinterest, and millions of Australians can be reached with ads. Home, fashion, beauty, food, travel and gifting lead, and the people planning them are deciding what to spend real money on, not killing time.

What most brands
struggle with on Pinterest

“We tried Pinterest. Nothing happened.”

What we do

It usually didn’t because a square social ad was dropped onto a vertical board, pointed at traffic and judged in a fortnight. We build the account to sell, with Pins made for the board, and give it a fair window.

“The saves are huge. The sales aren’t.”

What we do

Saves are the cheapest thing Pinterest sells. We optimise every campaign to purchases and catalogue sales, never to saves or clicks, and judge every Pin on cost per new customer, not how many boards it landed on.

“Our social ads don’t work here.”

What we do

They won’t. Pinterest is tall, quiet and product-first: the Pin has to look like something worth saving. We concept and build static Pins for the board, and brief the video and Idea ads for your team and creators to make.

“Pinterest’s numbers don’t match Shopify.”

What we do

They won’t on their own, and Pinterest’s long path to purchase makes it worse. We set up the Pinterest Tag and API for Conversions properly, feed real sales back, and report on MER and blended CAC.

“Our products never show up properly.”

What we do

A half-synced catalogue means Pins with missing prices, wrong images and products that never get served. We rebuild the feed, group the products that matter, and get Shopping ads running from a catalogue Pinterest trusts.

“We always launch too late for the season.”

What we do

Pinners plan Christmas, Mother’s Day and summer months before the rest of the internet notices. We build the calendar backwards from each moment so your Pins are being saved while the plan is still forming, not after.

Pinterest ad formats

Shopping, Collections, Video, Idea: each one does a different job

Shopping ads put the catalogue in front of someone already looking, Collections turn one Pin into a shoppable set, video stops the scroll on a still board and Idea ads borrow a creator’s trust. We run each one for the result it’s good at, not the one that’s easiest to buy.

Shopping Ads

Shows the right product

Your catalogue served as Product Pins, with live price and stock, to the people searching and browsing for exactly that. The workhorse for eCommerce.

  • Catalogue synced from Shopify
  • Run on Performance+
  • Retargets carts and past buyers

Standard Image Pins

Earns the save

A single tall image that reads as an idea, not an ad: the product in a real setting, a line of text that names the use, the brand visible. Built to be saved.

  • Vertical 2:3, made for the board
  • Keyword-led copy and overlays
  • Several angles per product

Video Pins

Stops the scroll

Motion on a board full of stills. Short, product-first video that shows the thing in use, with the point made before the sound comes on.

  • Standard and max-width video
  • Works with sound off
  • Briefed for your team and creators

Carousel & Collections

Sells the set

A hero image or video with shoppable products underneath, or a swipeable set of Pins. The whole look, the full range or the bundle in one ad.

  • Products pulled from the catalogue
  • Lifestyle shot, shoppable range
  • Built for higher order values

Idea Ads & Creators

Borrows real trust

Multi-page Pins that show the how-to, the routine or the before-and-after, run from your account or a creator’s as a paid partnership.

  • Creator briefs and usage rights
  • Paid partnership ads from creators
  • Tutorials, routines, room reveals

Premiere Spotlight

Owns the launch

The biggest canvas Pinterest sells: a day’s takeover of the home feed and search, with Showcase and Quiz ads for a brand story that opens up.

  • Launches, drops and sales only
  • Bought on reservation, not auction
  • Measured on sales lift, not reach

Built for brands
ready to grow today

Think of us as a growth partner, not just another Pinterest ads agency. The best results always start with the right fit.

Good fit

  • $50k+ a month in revenue.
  • Spending $10k+ per month.
  • Know your margin, or want help finding it.
  • Products people plan for and save.
  • You want profit, not platform ROAS.

Not a fit

  • You don’t have a marketing lead.
  • Zero internal creative capabilities.
  • Product margins are very low.
  • You need results this fortnight.
  • Cashflow is limited to scale.

Four people arm in arm behind the pen display cases inside the Milligram store

“Pulp is like no other agency we have ever worked with. Milligram has been with Pulp for over four years and we have seen incredible results across Meta and Google. They really are thought leaders when it comes to strategy in the digital marketing space. The team are extremely generous with their time, knowledge, and have heaps of input into our content and media planning, which really sets them apart. Plus we love our weekly meetings!”

Benn Martiniello and Lisandro Paz of Elite Eleven

“Working with Georgia & the team has been an absolute game changer for us. Since implementing their strategy across socials, and more specifically TikTok, we’ve seen a significant lift in engagement, reach, and overall brand awareness. They brought a clear structure to our content, while still allowing creativity to thrive, and consistently pushed us to think more natively for the platform. Beyond performance, they’ve also been incredible to work with. They are insightful, and genuinely invested in our growth. We’ve learnt so much from them, and their impact will continue to shape how we approach TikTok and socials moving forward. Thank you Georgia and team for everything!”

Brodie & Roger Cook, Founders of Lucent Globe

“Pulp scaled our spend with the right strategies and unique creatives. They were instrumental to the level of scale we achieved in a short time. From ad account structure to daily creative testing, every touchpoint was mapped out and optimised so nothing was left to guesswork. What used to take us weeks of trial and error now happens in days, and the results speak for themselves. It’s rare to find a team that moves this fast without cutting corners on strategy, and rarer still to find one that keeps communicating clearly the whole way through.”

The building framework that Pulp has implemented in our business has helped optimise the way we manage our digital & content strategy. We have never been so collaborative with an agency and the results have been fantastic. Since engaging Pulp, our digital business is on track to double sales sustainably within the first 4 months of working together.”

The Clean Like a Pro team

“As a new business, we had no idea how to run and scale ads. We were burnt by previous agencies who made big promises but didn’t deliver. The Pulp team have been a game-changer for us. From day one, they’ve been nothing but professional, reliable, and on top of the latest strategies. They consistently bring fresh ideas and innovative approaches that deliver incredible results. Pulp exceeded our expectations which gave us the confidence to trust in their expertise to help us reach and exceed our goals.”

Matt Donkin of Olivia & Grace

“We’ve been with Pulp Digital since November 2024 and our growth in that time has been huge. They go above and beyond every single time. Our Creative and Digital Strategist Ciara is fantastic. I actually look forward to our regular weekly calls, not just for the ideas and expertise she brings to the table, but for the genuine interest she takes in helping our business grow. It never feels like just another client call. And they don’t churn staff either, so you’re not constantly re-explaining your business to someone new. The owner Sam Despo is an absolute legend, the GOAT. As a small family business, having a team like this in our corner has made a real difference. Couldn’t recommend them more highly.”

Matt and Tara Grisold of Coated

“Sam and the team at Pulp have been incredible to work with since day one. While we engaged with them to purely manage our Meta account, they’ve gone above and beyond to help support our business in other ways. It’s very easy to hit a wall and not have any creative ideas for content, but the Pulp Digital team have a constant ‘finger on the pulse’ and recommend organic content ideas when we need it. We look forward to seeing our businesses grow together in the future!”

Pinterest ads questions, answered

Is Pinterest right for my brand?
If you sell something people plan for, almost certainly. Pinterest’s ads reach around 5.7 million Australians, roughly a quarter of everyone aged 13 and over, and the audience skews heavily female, with Gen Z now the largest and fastest-growing group worldwide. The categories it suits best are the ones with a planning moment: home and interiors, fashion, beauty and skincare, food and drink, weddings, travel, gifting, kids. If your product is a pure impulse buy with no moment anyone plans around, Pinterest will work harder than it should, and we’ll tell you that on the first call.
Do Pinterest ads actually sell, or just get saved?
They sell, if the account is built to sell. Saves are easy and cheap on Pinterest, which is why so many brands come away with a big engagement number and nothing at the checkout. We set every account up for purchases from day one: the Pinterest Tag and API for Conversions feeding real sales back (Pinterest reports brands running both together see around a quarter more attributed conversions), Performance+ optimising towards checkouts and catalogue sales rather than saves, and creative that reads as an idea worth acting on. There’s no in-app checkout in Australia, so every Pin sends people to your own store, and that’s where we measure. Saves and outbound clicks are inputs we use to pick winning Pins. Revenue is the output we report.
We tried Pinterest ads and nothing happened. Why try again?
Usually one of three things went wrong: square social creative was dropped onto a vertical board where it looked like an ad and got skipped, the campaign was optimised for traffic or saves rather than purchases, or it was judged inside a fortnight on a platform where people plan weeks ahead and buy later. Any one of them is enough. What’s different is the setup: Pins made for the board, a catalogue Pinterest can serve properly, Performance+ pointed at checkouts with real sales data behind it, and a long enough window to read it honestly. We audit the old account first and show you which of the three it was.
We’re already on Meta and Google. Why add Pinterest?
Because Meta converts people who already know you, Google catches people who already know what they want, and Pinterest reaches them before either of those is true, while they’re still working out what to buy. Nearly every top search there is unbranded, so you’re winning the consideration rather than fighting for the click. Pinterest’s own full-funnel study found more than half the incremental sales came from new buyers. For most eCommerce brands Meta and Google come first; Pinterest earns its budget when you sell into a category people plan, when Meta costs are climbing, or when you want new customers who aren’t already in everyone else’s retargeting pool. We run all three from one plan and one dashboard.
Do we need new creative for Pinterest?
Mostly, yes, and it’s less work than it sounds. Pinterest is a tall, quiet, product-first canvas: a vertical 2:3 image, the product in a real setting, a short line of text that names the use, and your brand visible. Square Instagram ads get cropped and lose the point. Our ad creatives team concepts and builds the static Pins, which carry most Pinterest accounts, and we brief the short video and Idea ads for your team and creators to make. Performance+ can also generate backgrounds from plain product shots, which gets a catalogue looking at home on the board fast. If you already have lifestyle photography, better: we start there.
How long before we see results?
Early signal inside 30 days, and a clear read on what’s scaling by day 60 to 90. The Tag, API for Conversions, catalogue and first Pin batch happen in the first fortnight, because every decision Performance+ makes after that depends on them. Shopping ads show first; prospecting and seasonal campaigns build over a quarter and compound, because saved Pins keep sending people back. The calendar matters more here than anywhere else: Pinterest’s own data has festive planning starting as early as September, so a Christmas campaign that launches in November has already missed most of the plan. We work backwards from each moment your customers plan for.
