Snapchat Ads

Reach Gen Z and millennials where other platforms can’t

Millions of Australians under 35 open Snapchat multiple times a day, and many spend little time on the platforms you already advertise on. If your brand isn’t there, a whole generation of customers never discovers it. We’re a specialist Melbourne Snapchat ads agency that turns that audience into profitable new customers.

How Snapchat works

Snapchat isn’t another feed. It’s the camera and the chat

On most platforms your ad competes in a public feed of strangers. On Snapchat people are talking to their closest friends with the camera open. Here’s what that changes, and what it means for your ads.

Other social platforms

A public feed of strangers

On most social feeds people scroll past posts from accounts they don’t know, half watching, deciding in a glance. An ad competes with everything else in the feed, and polish is how it earns its second of attention.

Snapchat

Private, camera-first, between friends

Snapchat opens to the camera, not a feed. People use it to message their closest friends, share Stories and play with Lenses, so an ad arrives full screen with the sound on, in a private space, between the people they trust most. That’s why the audience is so attentive, and so hard to reach anywhere else.

It’s the audience you’re missing elsewhere

Snapchat reaches most Australians under 35, and a good share of them spend little time on the feeds you already run ads on. Write it off as a kids’ app and you write off a generation of customers whose spending power is still growing.

It’s full screen, sound on, and fast

Every Snap ad takes the whole screen with the sound on, and it plays for seconds before a tap moves on. Landscape edits and slow brand intros don’t survive here. The hook has to land in the first second, with the product in frame.

It’s private, so trust runs high

People are on Snapchat to talk to their friends, not to perform for strangers. An ad that shows up there is read in that context: closer, more personal, less like a billboard. That works in your favour when the creative sounds like a person rather than a press release.

The camera is an ad unit

AR Lenses and Filters let people try your product on, drop it into their room or send it to a friend. Most Australians on Snapchat play with Lenses every day, so a Lens isn’t a gimmick here. It’s the most native thing a brand can run.

Ads now land in the chat

Sponsored Snaps put your brand in the Chat tab, the most used part of the app, as a message people open on their own terms. It’s the newest placement on Snapchat, the one Snap reports converting best, and the one most agencies haven’t caught up with.

What most brands
get wrong on Snapchat

“Our customers are too old for Snapchat.”

What we do

Probably not. Plenty of Australian Snapchatters are in their late twenties and thirties, and the rest are the customers you’ll want next. We size your reachable audience in Ads Manager first, and tell you straight if it’s thin.

“We tried Snapchat. It didn’t work.”

What we do

It usually didn’t because the ads were cropped from another platform, the Pixel wasn’t firing and the test ended before Snap’s bidding had learnt a thing. We brief full-screen creative, fix the signals and give it a fair run.

“Our ads just get tapped past.”

What we do

A landscape edit with a slow logo intro dies in a full-screen, sound-on space. We brief Snap-first concepts: a person on camera, the hook in the first second, the product in frame before the pitch, and a reason to swipe.

“We can’t afford an AR Lens.”

What we do

You don’t need one to start. Snap Ads and Story Ads carry most eCommerce accounts. Lenses come later, built from Snap’s own templates or by your creative team, when a product earns a try-on. You get a format plan, not an upsell.

“Snapchat’s numbers don’t match Shopify.”

What we do

They won’t on their own. We set up the Snap Pixel and Conversions API properly, with every purchase sent once, so Snap optimises on real sales, and we report on MER and blended CAC rather than swipe-ups.

“We don’t know which placement to run.”

What we do

Snap Ads for volume, Story Ads for the longer sell, Collection Ads for the catalogue, Sponsored Snaps for the chat, Lenses for the try-on. Most eCommerce accounts need the first and third before the rest. You get the reasoning, not a menu.

Snapchat ad formats

Snap Ads, Stories, Chat, Lenses: each one does a different job

Snap Ads carry the volume, Story Ads tell the longer story, Collection and Dynamic Product Ads put the catalogue in the ad, Sponsored Snaps land in the chat and Lenses put the product in their hands. We run each one for the result it’s good at, not the one that’s easiest to buy.

Snap Ads

Carries the volume

Full-screen vertical video or image between friends’ Stories and in Spotlight, with a swipe to your store. The workhorse, run with plenty to test.

  • Optimised to purchases, not swipes
  • Several creatives per ad set
  • Hook first, brand name last

Story Ads

Tells the longer story

A branded tile in Discover that opens into a run of Snaps. Room for a range, a routine or a before-and-after when one Snap isn’t enough.

  • Ranges, routines and launches
  • Tile hook tested like a thumbnail
  • Each Snap earns the next tap

Collection Ads

Shows the right product

Shoppable product tiles under the creative, plus Dynamic Product Ads matched to what each person browsed, built from your product feed.

  • Catalogue synced from Shopify
  • Dynamic Product Ads retarget carts
  • Prospects from the feed as well

Sponsored Snaps

Lands in the chat

A Snap from your brand, or from a creator’s handle, in the Chat tab people open most. The newest placement, bought on a purchase goal.

  • Sent from your Public Profile
  • Creator handles for trust
  • Bid to purchases, not opens

AR Lenses & Filters

Puts the product in their hands

Try-ons, placements and games people send to friends. Built from Snap’s templates or by your creative team, run when a product earns it.

  • Try-on and in-room Lenses
  • Shared, so reach compounds
  • Measured on sales lift, not plays

Commercials

Owns the launch

Non-skippable spots inside Snap’s curated shows, and single-day First Snap takeovers of the chat. Reserved for the drops that justify them.

  • Launches, drops and sales only
  • Reach bought on reservation
  • Measured on sales lift, not views

Built for brands
ready to grow today

Think of us as a growth partner, not just another Snapchat ads agency. The best results always start with the right fit.

Good fit

  • $50k+ a month in revenue.
  • Spending $10k+ per month.
  • Your customer is under 35, or you want them to be.
  • Creative is a major constraint.
  • You want profit, not platform ROAS.

Not a fit

  • You don’t have a marketing lead.
  • Zero internal creative capabilities.
  • Product margins are very low.
  • You need results this fortnight.
  • Cashflow is limited to scale.

What our clients
say about us

Brodie & Roger Cook, Founders of Lucent Globe

“Pulp scaled our spend with the right strategies and unique creatives. They were instrumental to the level of scale we achieved in a short time. From ad account structure to daily creative testing, every touchpoint was mapped out and optimised so nothing was left to guesswork. What used to take us weeks of trial and error now happens in days, and the results speak for themselves. It’s rare to find a team that moves this fast without cutting corners on strategy, and rarer still to find one that keeps communicating clearly the whole way through.”

Jordyn Evans of Mingle Seasoning

“Working with the Pulp team has been a refreshing experience from our previous 3 agencies. The building framework that Pulp has implemented in our business has helped optimise the way we manage our digital & content strategy. We have never been so collaborative with an agency and the results have been fantastic. Since engaging Pulp, our digital business is on track to double sales sustainably within the first 4 months of working together.”

The Clean Like a Pro team

“As a new business, we had no idea how to run and scale ads. We were burnt by previous agencies who made big promises but didn’t deliver. The Pulp team have been a game-changer for us. From day one, they’ve been nothing but professional, reliable, and on top of the latest strategies. They consistently bring fresh ideas and innovative approaches that deliver incredible results. Pulp exceeded our expectations which gave us the confidence to trust in their expertise to help us reach and exceed our goals.”

Matt Donkin of Olivia & Grace

“We’ve been with Pulp Digital since November 2024 and our growth in that time has been huge. They go above and beyond every single time. Our Creative and Digital Strategist Ciara is fantastic. I actually look forward to our regular weekly calls, not just for the ideas and expertise she brings to the table, but for the genuine interest she takes in helping our business grow. It never feels like just another client call. And they don’t churn staff either, so you’re not constantly re-explaining your business to someone new. The owner Sam Despo is an absolute legend, the GOAT. As a small family business, having a team like this in our corner has made a real difference. Couldn’t recommend them more highly.”

“Sam and the team at Pulp have been incredible to work with since day one. While we engaged with them to purely manage our Meta account, they’ve gone above and beyond to help support our business in other ways. It’s very easy to hit a wall and not have any creative ideas for content, but the Pulp Digital team have a constant ‘finger on the pulse’ and recommend organic content ideas when we need it. We look forward to seeing our businesses grow together in the future!”

They really are thought leaders when it comes to strategy in the digital marketing space. The team are extremely generous with their time, knowledge, and have heaps of input into our content and media planning, which really sets them apart. Plus we love our weekly meetings!”

“Working with Georgia & the team has been an absolute game changer for us. Since implementing their strategy across socials, and more specifically TikTok, we’ve seen a significant lift in engagement, reach, and overall brand awareness. They brought a clear structure to our content, while still allowing creativity to thrive, and consistently pushed us to think more natively for the platform. Beyond performance, they’ve also been incredible to work with. They are insightful, and genuinely invested in our growth. We’ve learnt so much from them, and their impact will continue to shape how we approach TikTok and socials moving forward. Thank you Georgia and team for everything!”

Snapchat ads questions, answered

Is Snapchat right for my brand?
If your customers are under 35, or you want them to be, and your product can be shown on camera, almost certainly. Snapchat reaches around 8 million Australians, roughly three in four people under 35, and since Australia’s under-16 rules took effect in December 2025 every account you can reach is 16 or older. The brands it suits best are the ones a young customer would send to a friend: fashion, beauty, skincare, food and drink, fitness, tech and the things people collect. If your reachable audience is thin, we’ll show you the number from Ads Manager on the first call.
Do Snapchat ads actually sell, or just get swiped?
They sell when the account is built to sell. Snap’s bidding can optimise straight to purchases, so we never run to swipes or impressions, and Sponsored Snaps and Collection Ads are bought on a purchase goal. The Snap Pixel and Conversions API send every purchase back once, so the system learns from real buyers. Snap reports that Sponsored Snaps convert at a lower cost per action than its other placements, which is where most of our testing starts. Swipe-up rate and completion are inputs we use to pick creative. Revenue is the output we report.
We tried Snapchat ads and they didn’t work. Why try again?
Usually one of three things went wrong: ads cropped from another platform were dropped into a full-screen, sound-on space, the Snap Pixel was never set up properly so the bidding had nothing to learn from, or the test was switched off before it got past learning. What’s different is Snap-first creative briefed for the first second, clean purchase data flowing back, and a plan that runs long enough to read. We audit the old account first and show you which of the three it was.
We’re already running Meta and TikTok. Why add Snapchat?
Because there’s a slice of under-35s who barely touch either, and Snapchat is the only place they’ll meet you. For most eCommerce brands Meta carries the volume, TikTok drives discovery and Google catches the searches both create. Snapchat earns its budget when your customer is young, when costs elsewhere are climbing and you need reach you don’t already have, or when the product suits a Lens. We run it from the same plan and the same creative pipeline, with one dashboard showing what each channel contributes.
Do we need an AR Lens or a creator first?
No. Snap Ads and Story Ads carry most campaigns, built from the vertical video you’re already making, briefed Snap-first. Lenses come when a product earns a try-on, built from Snap’s own templates or by your creative team. Creator sourcing, briefs and usage rights are part of the service, and Sponsored Snaps can be sent from a creator’s handle so the message arrives from a person rather than a logo. If you want the organic side built properly, that’s Organic Worlds, run by the same team.
How long before we see results?
Early signal inside the first month, and a clear read on what’s scaling by the end of the first quarter. The Pixel, Conversions API and first creative batch come first, because every decision Snap’s bidding makes after that depends on them. Snap Ads and Sponsored Snaps show first; Collection and Dynamic Product Ads build as the catalogue data fills in. We read blended numbers, MER and new-customer CAC, not just what Snap attributes to itself.
